Man and Dog at Peace
Assuming the dog’s motive for nuzzling the master was straight-forward family bonding (as opposed to “Hey, what’s that in your pocket and can I eat it ‘cause it sure smells like those treats you give me?”) then there isn’t too much more to say about this picture other than it was a nice warm day at the end of September. But it was also the kind of day that made you wonder whether you should have gotten out more in the summer, because winter was around the corner and you knew that you could only cheat the seasonal flow of things so much. It was the kind of day that you would use like a battery charger, storing up good, contented feelings and vitamin D because you also knew that in another month’s time the colour would be drained out of the landscape, that your body would start to hunger for solar radiation and that images of snow shovels and the white burden would soon creep out of their summer storage containers.
Therefore, on a day like this, you would pretend, or even do your
best to truly believe, that summer and special relationships and
life could, without miracles or divine intervention, go on forever.
Naturally.
